Mark Poddubiuk
After graduating from the School of Architecture of McGill University in 1985, Mark Poddubiuk worked as project architect at the office of Peter Rose Architect for seven years, responsible for design of a variety of projects (Le Vieux-Port de Montréal, Vassar College Art Gallery, Quartier Bonaventure, Westmount Public Library, Brookside School at Cranbrook and the Canadian Centre Architecture).
In 1992, he founded L'O.E.U.F. (L'Office de l'éclectisme urbain et fonctionnel) with Daniel Pearl, practicing in the fields of sustainable development and affordable housing as well as research, criticism, theory and social activism.
Since 2000, Mark Poddubiuk has directed the affordable housing redevelopment of Benny Farm in Montréal on behalf of LOEUF including the redevelopment plan proposed by the Fonds Foncier Communautaire Benny Farm in 2001, the competition project for Canada Lands Company in 2002, the renovation study of existing buildings in 2003 and the construction and renovation of 254 subsidized apartments in 2004-2005. The project for "Greening the infrastructure of Benny Farm received the Gold Award for North America - HOLCIM Foundation for Sustainable Construction in 2005 and has been subsequently entered in the international competition.
Mark Poddubiuk has been an Adjunct Professor at the McGill University School of Architecture since 1999 and has participated in design studios at the Schools of Architecture of Université de Montréal, Dalhousie University and UQAM since 1991. He has also written for architectural publications such as Canadian Architect, Wood Design & Building and Architecture Québec (ARQ).
