Premise - the maritime face
The Lower St. Laurence landscape marked by the retreat of the Golcthwait sea and stratification of the Appalachians forms the basis for this project. The old lots set perpendicular to the river are still visible, in spite of successive embankments which distanced them from the banks. These divisions still appear clearly in the siting of the cathedral, the presbytery, the museum and the Maritime Institute.
